Privacy Policy
Jewelry Identifier ("we", "us", "the app") is designed to be a privacy-first product. We collect as little information as possible to provide the service. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and what choices you have.
1. Data we collect
We do not ask for, or collect, your name, email, phone number, address, or other personal identifiers.
The only data the app handles:
- Photos you take or select — used to identify your jewelry. Photos are stored locally on your device. When you run an AI scan as a paid subscriber, your photo is sent to our processing service (see Section 3) and is not retained after the scan completes.
- Subscription status — managed by Apple and RevenueCat. We receive an anonymous subscriber ID to know whether your subscription is active.
- App preferences — your chosen currency, language, units, and saved jewelry items. All stored locally on your device using iOS secure storage.
- Onboarding answers — the preferences you select during onboarding (e.g. collection size, goal). Stored locally on your device only; never transmitted off-device.
2. Data we do NOT collect
- No name, email, phone number, or contact information
- No location data
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA, IDFV)
- No analytics or behavioral tracking
- No third-party advertising
- No persistent device fingerprinting
3. Third-party services
To deliver core features, the app uses these processors:
- Anthropic, PBC — provides the AI model that identifies jewelry from photos. Photos are sent for processing through our own server proxy. Anthropic's data usage policy applies. See anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
- Groq, Inc. — powers the per-item AI chat feature. Only the text-based identification result (no photos) is sent. See groq.com/privacy-policy.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — handles subscription state and Apple receipt validation. Receives an anonymous subscriber ID. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Apple, Inc. — App Store hosting, in-app purchases, and StoreKit. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts the secure proxy that routes AI requests. May log IP addresses transiently for abuse prevention; does not store photo content. See cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
4. How long we keep your data
Photos, saved items, and preferences live on your device only and remain there until you delete the app or clear the data manually from within the app's Settings screen. Photos sent for AI processing are not retained by us after the scan completes.
5. Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us and we'll address the matter promptly.
6. Your rights
Because we don't collect personal information, there is generally no personal data on our servers for you to access, correct, or delete. The data the app uses is entirely on your device — you control it directly. To delete it, uninstall the app.
If you are a resident of California, the European Union, or another region with specific data protection laws, you have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of any personal data a processor may hold about you. Refer to each third-party service's privacy policy linked in Section 3.
7. International use
This app is available worldwide on the Apple App Store. AI processing happens on servers operated by Anthropic and Groq, which may be located outside your country. By using the app, you consent to your photos being processed in these jurisdictions.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Effective" date at the top of this page when we do. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice or a fresh App Store release notes.
